The COVID-19 pandemic posed significant challenges to social science research, prompting researchers to develop innovative methodologies to overcome the limitations.
UKZN Professors Radhamany Sooryamoorthy and Vivian Ojong from the School of Social Sciences teamed up to edit a book that explores adaptations and developments to meet the demands of transforming social circumstances and showcases innovative alternative approaches.
Titled, Researching the ‘New Normal’ Social World: Methodological Adaptations and Innovations Post-Pandemic, it sets out innovative research methodologies that can be employed in future times of difficulty. It will thus be of interest to students, teachers, researchers, practitioners and others in the field of social sciences.
The contributors were drawn from reputable institutions around the world, including the Oxford Brooks Business School; Auckland University of Technology; Leuven’s Faculty of Engineering Science; Victoria University; Temple University; Ontario Tech University; UKZN; Johannes Kepler University of Linz; Yale University; the University of Wolverhampton; Paris Lodron University Salzburg; and the European Institute on Public Health Policy.
‘It is our aim that students and researchers will gain from these research approaches that we have assembled in a collection, drawing from the first-hand experiences of a range of academics worldwide,’ said the editors.
