College Public Relations win Bronze at national MACE Awards

The College of Humanities Public Relations (PR) team recently won two bronze awards at the annual national Marketing, Communication and Advancement in Education (MACE) Excellence Awards, held at the University of Pretoria.

The awards take place annually to celebrate the excellence and achievements of specialists and practitioners in marketing, advancement and communication in the South African Higher Education sector.

Out of the three submitted entries, the College PR Team walked away with two Bronze Awards of Excellence for the 2022 Humanities Pulse Digital Magazine and the 2021 COVID-19 Pandemic Newsletter.

The Humanities Pulse Magazine (conceptualised and developed by Melissa Mungroo) and the online Pandemic Newsletter (designed overall by Sibongiseni Msomi) won in the category of Digital: Internal magazines and Newsletters, and Printed and Digital Reports. College PR was praised by the MACE evaluators and moderators for the content and innovative design of both publications.

DVC and Head of the College of Humanities Professor Nhlanhla Mkhize said, ‘Congratulations to our College PR Team, led by Ms Melissa Mungroo. Humanities Pulse is a few months old and we are proud of this award-winning publication.’ While acting Director of College Professional Services Dr Phumelele Zakwe added, ‘Congratulations to our PR team for their collective work in taking the Humanities community to greater heights.’
