About the Doctoral Academic Winter School

The College of Humanities Doctoral Academy Winter School is a series of research webinars focusing on special topics in doctoral research in the humanities, education, social and behavioural sciences. The Doctoral Winter School is convened to equip first year doctoral students with fundamental skills for the development of rigorous research proposals for doctoral studies in the College of Humanities at UKZN including: academic writing; designing cross-sectional research studies; the use of mixed methodology in doctoral research; designing phenomenological research studies; understanding discourse analysis; inquiry and narrative reviews and meta-synthesis; ground ed systematic theory; verification of trustworthiness of qualitative assessing reliability and validity of data ; instruments; participatory action measurement research; probability and non-probability sampling and sample size determination in procedures; quantitative research studies.
