
The College of Humanities offers a diverse array of Honours, Masters and Doctoral qualifications. They are designed to ensure postgraduate students are fully prepared for careers in professional and academic paths, equipped for leadership in policy and decision-making, and are competent to contribute to building a vibrant "knowledge economy" in post-apartheid South Africa and beyond.
Postgraduate Diplomas
Admission requirements for a postgraduate diploma include a Bachelor's Degree or a professional qualification, practical experience or other qualification acceptable to Senate.

Honours Degrees
A minimum of 55% average across all modules of the major at level three is required for application to an honours degree. Many disciplines have limited capacity and practice a competitive selection through which places are allocated on the basis of high academic achievement as well as considerations of equity. Some disciplines may require a portfolio of work.

A minimum of 60% average across all modules of the honours degree is required for application to a masters degree.
